Case Study: Jewellery Manufacturer & Retailer
The Company is a major manufacturer and retailer of competitively priced jewellery with two overseas factories to undertake jewellery settings. They were handling large transaction volumes and had to stay on top of the constantly changing inventory and prices of the competition. To gain an edge over the competition, the Company recognized the need for an integrated IT system for real time and accurate information to manage the large and fluid inventory.Challenge
They needed a system that could update multiple files that contain pricing and inventory data for different store locations. This was done manually which then led to mistakes being made due to large repetitive orders. This compounded problems for customer service, which then created the massive job of restocking.
The accounting and inventory functions were not integrated which resulted in a lot of mistakes and extra work to check these errors.
Solution
The Company conducted a detailed evaluation of several ERP Solutions. They worked with SABRE who recommended a thorough and detailed analysis of the business practice and the technology required through a System Study that tabulated the features and functionality of the short listed ERP systems.
SAP Business One was identified as the best fit for the Company and the easiest to operate and maintain. Once the decision was made the SABRE team worked closely with the Company and the system went Live in six weeks.
The Company’s problem areas identified in the System Study were resolved by the additional functionality add-on that SABRE was able to build due to the flexibility of the SAP Business One system. The additions included order validation to ensure that all shipments are correct and an integrated multi location price and inventory for their stores and POS system.
Inventory management has become more efficient allowing the Company to plan inventory in more detail and ensure orders are accurate. With SAP Business One, photos of each item can be tagged to the appropriate SKU CODE ensuring the correct identification of jewellery pieces and minimizing errors in shipping as some items are described simply in writing. SAP Business One has extended the visibility of stock levels to retail outlet staff by linking the POS in each outlet to the SAP Business One system.
